Spendler ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Spendler mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from the authentication provider.
  • Financial data: Transactions, account balances, budgets, goals, and categories you create within the app.
  • Preferences: Currency, notification settings, and other in-app preferences.

Information collected automatically

  • Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for debugging and compatibility.
  • Usage data: Features used and general interaction patterns to improve the Service.

Receipt scanning (optional)

If you use the receipt scanning feature, images you capture are sent to our servers for processing and are not stored after the transaction is extracted.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service

  • To send you notifications you have opted into (daily reminders, weekly reports)
  • To improve and personalise your experience

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your financial data for advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on Convex (convex.dev), a cloud database platform. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information.

Financial data you enter (transactions, balances, budgets) is stored only for the purpose of providing the Service to you and is never shared with financial institutions or third-party advertisers.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

  • Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: For authentication. Governed by their respective privacy policies.
  • Convex: Cloud database for storing your app data.
  • OpenAI: Used to automatically categorise transactions. Only transaction titles are sent — never amounts, balances, or personal details.
  • RevenueCat: For managing in-app subscriptions and purchase validation.
  • Expo / Apple / Google: For delivering push notifications.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), which permanently removes all your data from our systems within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights including:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you
  • The right to correct inaccurate data
  • The right to delete your data
  • The right to data portability

7. Children's Privacy

Spendler is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
